InnerDrive’s academic year in review (and what we’re doing next year)

July is almost over, yet another academic year is behind us. And what a year it has been!

We’ve had our busiest one yet here at InnerDrive, delivering our workshops at 250+ schools, colleges and conferences to over 22,000 students and staff, and publishing 95 teaching & learning blogs with 40 accompanying posters.

And somehow, we managed to do even more. Here are some of the things we were most proud of this year, where to see them, and what to look forward to next year…

Launching the Cognitive Science Network

Awareness and understanding of the principles from Cognitive Science are growing every day in education. However, we’ve noticed a frustrating lack of infrastructure allowing schools to share their knowledge and build best practices with each other.

That’s why we created the Cognitive Science Network, bringing together school leaders from schools around the UK at the forefront of developing cognitive science strategies. The inaugural term, comprising of 12 schools, kicks off in September.

We’re already taking applications for the second term, which start in February 2023 – find out more and apply on the Cognitive Science Network website.

Growing the InnerDrive team

We welcomed a whopping 11 new team members this year (and another InnerDrive baby!), and even moved to new offices in South London. But we’re not stopping there: we’re currently looking for more people to join us to help grow and improve the teacher CPD we offer, our online workshops, and more.

If you’re interested, or know someone who would be, check out our Careers page to learn more.

Offering more CPD than ever

Speaking of CPD…

We end this year with more options for evidence-based, practical staff development than ever before. Some of our most popular new teacher CPD workshops include:

This past academic year also marked the start of our popular webinars – one saw over 700 teachers sign up! Keep your eyes open for next year’s dates and the exciting, secret project they will be part of…

Working with some of our favourite people

In between guests for our CPD webinars, the speakers we had at our Cognitive Science strand at the Festival of Education (relive the day with a special episode of the TandTeaching podcast), and the ebook we wrote with Oliver Caviglioli, we’ve been fortunate to work with some pretty amazing people this year.

We’re looking forward to even more collaboration next year: we have a cracking lineup of speakers for the first term of the Cognitive Science Network, and we can’t wait to tell you more about who will be talking at the second edition of the Teaching & Learning Summit.

Writing a new book

You read that right: our next book, a visual guide to teaching & learning principles, will be out in early 2023. We are currently putting the finishing touches to the graphics and copy and are excited for you to have it in your hands.

See you in September!

We can’t wait for next year to get underway, and for you to see everything we’re working on. We’ve got one or two amazing teaching and learning projects that we aren’t quite ready to announce yet, so if you want to be the first to know, make sure to sign up to our mailing list.

We’re also taking bookings for student and teacher CPD workshops, but our calendar is already getting full for the first few months, so make sure to get in touch to add your school to the list.

Have a brilliant summer!
